Aviation Board swears in Whipple

Greensburg Daily News

---- — GREENSBURG — At its regular meeting Monday night, the Greensburg Board of Aviation Commissioners welcomed Commissioner Don Whipple to another term with a formal swearing-in ceremony conducted by Mayor Gary Herbert.

The Aviation Board term is four years, meaning Whipple’s current term will expire in Dec. 2017.

Herbert briefly addressed the entire aviation board afterward, saying, “I want you to know that we appreciate all the board members volunteering all your time and dedicating all your efforts.”

Aviation Board Vice President Dr. Jon Dooley then gave the monthly airport financial report, detailing the funds available in the airport’s three fiscal accounts.

The Airport Improvement Account (Account 815), Dooley reported, currently stands at $114,820.73; the Aviation Rotary Fuel Account (Account 816) has a current balance of $73,475.14 ; while the Airport Operations Account (Account 817) has a balance $203,042.52. Taken together, the three accounts, Dooley concluded, are worth $391,338.39. The board also voted to pay its monthly bills.

Engineer Don Manley also addressed the board regarding the airport’s Capital Improvement Program forms. December, Manley said, is the deadline for finalizing the forms. The board voted unanimously to finalize the forms, which grants Manley the ability to submit them to the state for the construction of a sign on behalf of the airport board.

The next regular meeting of the Greensburg Board of Aviation Commissioners will be held at 7 p.m., Monday, Jan. 27, at City Hall.
