Koors files for county clerk

GREENSBURG – Decatur County Deputy Clerk Faith Koors has officially filed her candidacy papers to run as a Democratic for the office of Decatur County Clerk.

Koors filed Jan. 8.

The candidate moved to Decatur County from Shelby County at the age of five. She is the daughter of Rose Hellmich, who served on the County Council for 12 years, and the late Joe Hellmich and Don Taylor.

Along with being involved in many different public service works, Koors was formerly a Secretary for the Decatur County Democrats. She has been active with Decatur County Relay for Life Cancer Society for the last 15 years. She attends St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

The candidate has been married for 31 years. She and husband Jeff have two children, Joe and Candice.

The family has six grandchildren and is expecting another soon.

Outside of the office, she enjoys spending time with her family and horses, and helps her husband with farming.

Koors has worked in the Decatur County Clerk’s office since 1999. Her primary job currently involves voter registration and absentee voting, but throughout the last decade and a half, Koors has worked in a variety of duties in her position. These include jury draws, child support, tax warrants, balance of money draws, marriage licenses and the performance of marriages, customer service and opening and closing court cases, in addition to other duties.

The candidate’s experience includes budgets, accounts payable and receivable, payroll and taxes, and supervision of employees with the family owned business.

“I truly enjoy working for and with the community and would welcome bringing my experience, dedication, honesty and integrity, to the position of Decatur County Clerk,” Koors said in a press release. “I would appreciate any support.”
