The Greensburg boys 8A boys basketball team hosted Greendale in a double overtime thriller Thursday night. The game, which the Pirates won 44-42, was a physical matchup between two even teams. Greendale jumped off to an early lead and Greensburg cut the deficit to one at the end of the first. Teams were tied at halftime, and Greensburg pulled ahead by three points on Craig Scheidler’s free throws with 6.8 seconds left in regulation.
Greendale dribbled the length of the court and hit a game-tying 3-pointer with no time to spare.
In the first OT both teams went back and fourth and Kyle Sellers tied the game up with a free throw that sent the game into the second overtime. Cody Bischoff connected on 1 free throw and Luke Lozier took over, hitting four of six free throws down the stretch.
Greendale had a chance to tie it up, but Tucker Bailey came up with a huge steal to seal the victory. Leading the Pirates in scoring was Luke Lozier with 18 points, Craig Scheidler 9, Kyle Sellers 7, Tucker Bailey 4, and Cody Bischoff, Shawn Partlow, and Jon Brown each added two apiece.
Scheidler and Lozier recorded 14 and 11 rebounds respectively. Tucker Bailey led the team with seven assists.
Greensburg is 3-5 and will be hosting Batesville Middle School Monday, Jan. 13.
