Road to Education 5k accepting registrants

Greensburg — Oldenburg Academy will be hosting its annual 5k walk/run in honor of the late Holly Bruns April 27, and is accepting early registrants until April 13.

Early registration is $20, and registration the day of the run is $25. All proceeds will go to the Holly Bruns Scholarship at Oldenburg Academy.

“Holly’s Road to Education” is in memory of Bruns, a popular South Decatur teacher who was killed by a drunk driver on Halloween of 2008.

She graduated from Oldenburg Academy in 1974, and taught 29 years at South Decatur with the goal of instilling healthy habits in students such as “Just say no to drugs” and “don’t drink and drive.”

Interested parties can also donate $100 as a Holly’s Spirit Sponsor; $250 as a Holly’s Faith Sponsor; $500 as a Holly’s Hope Sponsor; or $1,000 as a Holly’s Dream Sponsor. Oldenburg will also accept small Friendship donations.

Those interested in receiving a t-shirt will be subject to the $25 registration fee, even for early registrants.
