GREENSBURG – Local high school artists will experience the feeling of having their work shown in a gallery art show for the month of March at the Art on the Square Gallery.
Art teachers at Greensburg Community High School, North Decatur Junior-Senior High School and South Decatur Junior-Senior High School selected a total of 44 pieces of student art to be featured in the gallery show. There is no fee to view the art, which will be on display until the end of March.
From 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, March 14, the student art show and reception will be the centerpiece of the gallery’s Second Friday at the Gallery event. Attendees can view the art, meet the artists and enjoy a selection of refreshments.
“There’s quite a variety of art,” said Sue Margargel, gallery director. “The students are very talented and it’s a show you don’t want to miss.”
The Art on the Square Gallery is located on the north side of the courthouse square in downtown Greensburg. The student art show is an annual event at the gallery, one aimed at letting students experience a real gallery show at this early stage in their artistic careers.
“The student work this year is very good,” gallery artist and show chairperson Margaret Parker told the Daily News. “It is always exciting to see the creativity of our students.”
Parker extended her thanks to art teachers Dustin Smith of Greensburg, Morgan McIntire of North Decatur and Bryan Moore of South Decatur for their assistance in making the art show possible.
Art on the Square Gallery features work by local and regional artists and is open from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday.
