Kramer, Simon earn full scholarships to USI

Tagline (right aligned):EVANSVILLE – Kaleb Kramer and Blake Simon of Greensburg, Indiana have been awarded full-tuition scholarships to attend the University of Southern Indiana (USI) in Evansville this fall.

Tagline (right aligned):Kaleb Kramer received the Stanley B. and Ruth C. Atkinson Endowed Presidential Scholarship. A graduate of North Decatur High School, he is the son of Don and Karla Kramer. Kaleb plans to major in biology/pre-medicine.

Blake Simon received the Ethel Reed Endowed Baccalaureate/Doctor of Medicine (B/MD) Scholarship. A graduate of Greensburg Community High School, he is the son of Kathy Simon. Blake plans to major in biology/pre-medicine.

Presidential scholarships are awarded annually to 10 Indiana valedictorians and salutatorians of senior high school classes.

Applicants must attend a state-commissioned high school in Indiana and earn an SAT score of 1200 (without writing component) or 1800 (with writing component), or an ACT composite score of 27. The program began in 1988 as an initiative to bring outstanding Indiana students to USI.

B/MD scholars meet similar academic requirements to those of Presidential scholars. The B/MD scholarship program, which offers a provisional seat in the Indiana University School of Medicine, is sponsored jointly by USI and the Evansville Center for Medical Education, Indiana University School of Medicine.

Both scholarships are funded by private donors to the USI Foundation.

Founded in 1965, the University of Southern Indiana enrolls nearly 10,000 students in 80 undergraduate and graduate programs. The campus of this comprehensive public university is on 1,400 acres just outside of Evansville in Southwestern Indiana.
