The South Decatur junior high football team hosted Eastern Hancock Tuesday to conclude the regular season.
In a defensive battle, South pulled off the win 14-6.
“Both defenses played very well,” said South coach Troy Meadows. “Our offense was able to capitalize on some Eastern Hancock turnovers.
Logan Shafer scored on a 60-yard run in the first half to make it 6-0.
The game stayed that way until the fourth quarter. South had a fourth-and-5 from its own 30 yard line when Kordell Meadows pulled the ball on a read option play and took it down to the Royals’ 10, setting up a second Logan Shafer touchdown. The two-point conversion run by Meadows made the score 14-0.
The Royals scored a late touchdown to finish the game, making it 14-6.
South finishes the season 4-3.
