"Once Upon a Mattress" coming to OA

---- — OLDENBURG – The Oldenburg Academy Drama Club will bring a classic musical to life when it performs “Once Upon a Mattress” at 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 15 and Saturday, Nov. 16, 2013.

This family-friendly musical is based on the classic fairy tale, “The Princess and the Pea” by Hans Christian Andersen. The show, with music by Mary Rodgers, lyrics by Marshall Barer and book by Jay Thompson, Dean Fuller, and Marshall Barer, will be performed in the OA Auditorium. Advance reserved seat tickets ($10 for adults and $5 for those age 18 and under) may be purchased by calling the school office (812-934-4440). Remaining tickets will be sold at the door on show nights.

On show nights, young princesses (age 12 and under) attending the show, are invited to dress in their royal best and apply for a chance to wed Prince Dauntless. Applications will be available at the door on show nights. Each evening, the Jester will select eleven lucky competitors. Princesses must arrive before 6:45 pm and must be willing to spend a few minutes on stage (before the performance).

More than thirty OA students are participating in”Once Upon A Mattress”. Lizzy Puttmann, junior, stars as Princess Winnifred. Other roles are filled by: Carley Wagers (Queen Aggravain), Luke Wukusick (Prince Dauntless), Mikaela Fangman (Lady Larken), Brian Ulrich (King Sextimus), Liam Mungcal (Sir Harry), Shannon Deal (The Misntrel), Gabrielle Mungcal (The Jester), Chris Jarman (The Wizard),Marie Hoog (Princess # 12 and Lady Rowena), Claire McDaniels (The Nightingale of Samarkand and Lady Catherine), Josie Wesseler (Lady Beatrice), Caitlyn Bowling (Lady Ann), Colleen Dietz (Lady Gwendolyn), Katie Ulrich (Lady Helen), Jessie Kline (Lady Juliet), Elizabeth Miller (Lady Lucille), Courtney Eckstein (Lady Mabelle), Kirsten Stenger (Lady Merrill), Jeremy Kelnhofer (Sir Andrew), Alex Doll (Sir George), Jacob Preston (Sir Daniel), Nathan Hubert ( Sir Harold), Tyler Wachsman (Sir Studley), Decker Horninger (Sir Luce), Nathan Hurm (Sir William). The backstage crew includes Mary Brunsman, Emma Geis, Marie Herring, Oliver Jarman, Mark Hoog and Sophie Wesseler.
