BLOOMINGTON - The public is invited to fireworks shows at six Indiana state park and reservoir properties to celebrate Independence Day.

Indiana Dunes State Park will have fireworks on July 2 around 9 p.m. CDT.

Monroe Lake in Bloomington, Cecil M. Harden (Raccoon) Lake in Rockville, Patoka Lake in Birdseye, Pokagon State Park in Angola, and Versailles State Park in Versailles will host fireworks on July 6 around 10 p.m. EDT.

Personal fireworks are prohibited on DNR properties.

Versailles is offering free admission from 8 to 10 p.m. and Cecil M. Harden Lake is offering free admission after 5 p.m. Otherwise, standard admission fees apply. Standard admission is $5 per in-state vehicle or $7 per out-of-state vehicle, except at Indiana Dunes, where admission for in-state vehicles is the same but the fee for out-of-state vehicles is $10.

Indiana Dunes State Park, the Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore and the town of Porter will host Fireworks on the Lakefront. Fireworks will be launched from a barge on Lake Michigan in front of the park’s beach pavilion. Activities start at 6 p.m. and include local food vendors and live music. Swimming hours will be extended to 8 p.m. A free shuttle will be provided from Yost Elementary School in Porter and Westchester Intermediate School in Chesterton. Those hoping to park inside the state park should arrive before 6 p.m. and expect long admission lines.

Monroe Lake’s fireworks are at Fairfax State Recreation Area. The show is sponsored by Four Winds Marina.

Cecil M. Harden Lake’s fireworks will cap off Raccoon State Recreation Area’s annual Beach Bash and Fireworks Display. Activities start at 10 a.m. and include a sidewalk chalk art contest, crafts, and cornhole tournament at 6 p.m. The fireworks are sponsored by Raccoon SRA, Bellmore Volunteer Fire Department and the Raccoon Lake/Union Township Property Owners Association.
