Easter eggs and health fair at YMCA this weekend

Greensburg Daily News

Greensburg — On Saturday, the Decatur County Family YMCA will host its annual health fair, and the Daily News’ annual Easter egg hunt.

Registration for the egg hunt begins at 9:30 a.m., and the hunt will take place at 10 a.m.

The hunt is for kids two to nine years of age, and will take place on the YMCA’s soccer field, rain or shine.

The event will be divided into three different age groups: 2 to 3, 4 to 6 and 7 to 9. Parents are allowed to assist children two to three years of age in finding the plastic, prize-filled eggs.

“We have stuffed thousands of eggs with tons of candy, prizes and treats,” said Natalie Acra, Easter egg hunt event coordinator. “Don’t let the chilly weather keep you from coming to the egg hunt and Healthy Kid’s Day. This is a great opportunity to have some fun. Don’t forget to bring your baskets.”

A child from each of the three age groups will walk away with one of three new bicycles, which have been donated by Walmart.

Other sponsors include Gilliland-Howe Funeral Home, Crafts & Occasions, Walmart, Decatur County Family YMCA, Arby’s, CVS Pharmacy, Dairy Queen, Greg Allen, Hampton Inn, Main Street Market, Parkside Lanes, Ponderosa, Rural King, Schlemmer Wholesale, Susie Ricke State Farm Insurance, Subway, Tractor Supply, Walgreens and Wendy’s.

The YMCA’s health fair will begin at the same time as the egg hunt at 10 a.m., and is expected to last until 1 p.m. in the blue gym.

“The health fair is geared toward children,” said program coordinator, Amy Klene, who added that 20 vendors will be present.

The Greensburg Police Department will be presenting car seat safety, the Lion’s Club will be offering eye screenings, and kids can get a BMV identification card for free, sponsored by 5/3 Bank and the Decatur County REMC. There will be a bounce house as well.

There will also be a blood drive from the Red Cross from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m.
