Decatur County Community Foundation Announces 2011 Grant Opportunities

Greensburg — GREENSBURG - The Board of Directors of the Decatur County Community Foundation is pleased to announce it will continue a variety of grant opportunities available for 2011 from the unrestricted pool of funds.

Sharon Hollowell, Executive Director, "Our unrestricted money are the donations given to the DCCF with the intent of improving the community.  The DCCF Board of Directors understands our community has many needs and wants to use that unrestricted money to provide different grant opportunities in an effort to meet the needs."

The Large Project Grant program is open to non-profits serving Decatur County. In 2011, Large Project Grants will be awarded twice. Organizations will be able to apply for up to $15,000 in the two grant cycles. To apply, organizations must submit a letter of intent by February 15 to be considered for the first cycle and by September 15 for the second cycle. The letter of intent will be reviewed and grant applications will be forwarded to qualifying organizations. The DCCF grant committee then review all returned grant applications.  

The Small Project grant program is open to non-profits serving Decatur County residents. In 2011, Small Projects are for awards of up to $1,500.   Applications are accepted throughout the year. An application turned in by the 10th of any month will be reviewed during the following month’s Board meeting.

The Thank a Teacher grant program is open to any Decatur County classroom teacher. The grant money is to be used to help with a classroom program or project. The grants can be for up to $250. Grant applications are due on February 1 and October 1.
