---- — The Greensburg junior high volleyball team competed in a four-way tournament at Rushville Saturday.
The Pirates were able to top Rushville 25-14, 25-21 in the first match. Kirstin Hersley led in serving going 14/16 and 1 ace followed by Bailey Meyer 13/14 and 1 ace. Ashlynn Meyer, Bailey Meyer, Keirsten Lynette, and Kyra Whitaker all added 2 kills apiece. Sierra Johnson passed a team-best 18/19 followed by Bailey Meyer going 15/16. Kyra Whitaker added two blocks and Ashlynn Meyer had four assists.
In the championship game, Greensburg fell to Shelbyville 25-23, 25-23 in a very tough match.
The girls played well but not well enough to beat the Bears. Ellie Kramer led in serving, 15/16 and 1 ace, followed by Bailey Meyer and Kirstin Hersley each with seven good serves. Ashley Bower added an ace. Keirsten Lynette and Kyra Whitaker both tallied two kills, while Sierra Johnson, Ashlynn Meyer, and Bailey Meyer each added one. Johnson passed a team-best 27/33 and Ellie Kramer was second at 20/20. Sierra Johnson added two blocks.
Greensburg’s eighth grade Lady Pirates returned from Brookville Monday night with a two-set victory.
Bailey Meyer led in serving 13/14, Kirstin Hersley was 9/12, and Ashlynn Meyer added one ace. Keirsten Lynette led the attack at the net with one kill and Sierra Johnson was 5/7 at the net. Johnson led in passing, 16/19, Hersley was 13/14, and Bailey Meyer was 11/11. Johnson also added a block.
