Pirates split junior high volleyball matches vs. North

The Greensburg and North Decatur junior high volleyball teams split a pair of matches Thursday night.

The Greensburg eighth grade volleyball team hosted North Decatur Thursday and came out with a win, 25-17, 25-19.

Bailey Meyer led the serving effort with 19/20 and two aces, followed by Sierra Johnson with 6/7 and one ace. Ashlynn Meyer also contributed an ace. Ashlynn, Kyra Whitaker, and Taylor Klene were perfect at the net getting all of their hits in. Bailey added two kills. Keirsten Lynette contributed a block. Sierra Johnson and Bailey Meyer led in passing with 16/18 and 14/16, respectively. Ellie Kramer and Lynette were perfect in passing.

North coach Carol Koester said it was not a good serving night for the Chargers.

Sarah Bohman led North with seven kills, while Regan Day tallied four kills. Sarah Bohman notched four assists at setter and Lily Meyer added three assists.

North seventh beats Pirates

The North Decatur seventh graders beat Greensburg in three games, 25-13, 25-20 and 15-13.

For North, Abbi Eldridge served 10-11 with two aces. Maddy Day served 11-13 with four aces and Abby Morrow served 13-14 with four aces.

The Lady Pirates served 78 percent overall.

Greensburg individual serving: Colleen Bray 2/2, Anika Scripture 6/9, Cheyenne Schoettmer 3/4, Abbey Gommel 2/3, Simone O’Mara 7/10, Logan Hammer 8/9, Lily Grimes 13/15, and Claire Dennett 4/5.

Greensburg passed 74 percent overall.

Individual passing: Kirsten Fong 4/6, Anika Scripture 9/10, Cheyenne Schoettmer 4/7, Abbey Gommel 15/17, Davilyn Wesseler 6/7, Simone O’Mara 8/14, Logan Hammer 13/17, Lily Grimes 11/14, Colleen Bray 5/6, Claire Dennett 8/10, Natalie Lutz 1/2, Kierra Cooney 8/14.

The Lady Pirates will be playing in a four-team tourney Saturday, Sept. 21 at St. Louis School in Batesville.
