North eighth grade spikers now 5-4

The North Decatur eighth grade volleyball team defeated Jac-Cen-Del in two sets Tuesday night. The Lady Chargers beat the Lady Eagles 25-15, 25-18.

Hannah Fortner served 13-13 with 11 points and three aces. Lily Meyer served 13-13 with 12 points.

Ellen Schwering and Sarah Bohman each added two aces.

Bohman hit 11/11 and set 19-19, while Meyer set 23-23.

The North eighth graders, coached by Carol Koester, are 5-4 on the season.

North seventh grade spikers now 6-3

The North seventh grade volleyball team fell to Edinburgh 25-21, 25-24 last Thursday. Maddy Day was 8-11 serving with four aces and Kierstyn House was 7-9 serving with two aces.

North beat Southwestern Shelby 25-18, 25-10 Monday. Balee Osting was 12-12 serving with two aces, Maddy Day was 8-9 with five aces and Abby Morrow was 13-13 with six aces.

North’s seventh graders, coached by Julie French, are 6-3 on the season.

Open gym at GCHS fieldhouse

The Decatur County Parks and Recreation Department is offering open gym at the GCHS Fieldhouse on Sundays from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Take advantage of this opportunity to play basketball, volleyball or walk on the indoor track. This is being offered free of charge by the Parks and Recreation Department.
