Pirate harriers compete at Knights Invite

The Greensburg cross country teams competed in the 14th Annual Knights Invitational Saturday morning in Aurora.

The boys finished 7th out of nine in the team standings. Their overall record stands at 29-30.

In the boys’ Division I race, Peyton Buening led the Pirates with an 11th place finish in a time of 17:06. Reid McClintic was 25th in 17:50, with teammate Ethan Sebastian taking 26th in 17:55.

Kevin Johnson continued his steady improvement on the season, placing 41st in 18:59. Louis Moore ran his best race of the season, earning 43rd in 19:05. Ben Newhart took 53rd in 20:20.

The Lady Pirates finished 2nd out of the 8 teams in the Division I competition. The Lady Pirates are now 43-13 in 2013.

Shelby Pake defended her individual title from last year. She won the Division I race in 19:37. Allie Reisman crossed the finish line in 21:27 to place 15th. Freshman April Morrow was the Lady Pirates’ third finisher on Saturday. She came in 17th with a time of 21:52. Ellie Burkhart earned 21st in 22:17. Senior Erin Hamilton was 25th in 22:26, while Mary Kate Porter ran her best race of the year taking 26th in 22:37. McKinley Bottoms placed 47th in 26:37.

Joel Chase and Draven Hall represented Greensburg in the reserve race. Chase placed 28th in 21:11 while Hall took 29th in 21:24.

Both teams return to action Tuesday when the Pirates host the Shelbyville Golden Bears. The meet begins at 5 p.m. with the senior recognition to follow.
