---- — The Lady Pirates soccer team traveled to Rushville Saturday morning for an EIAC match-up. The host Lady Lions found the net first eight minutes into the game and scored on their first shot. Twelve minutes later freshman Michaela Myers chipped a ball to sophomore Maddi Hellmich who beat one defender and evened the match. The score remained tied despite the Lady Pirates outshooting the hosts 18-4 in the first half.
The second half started the same way as the Lady Lions took advantage of a missed marked and netted their second goal of the game eight minutes in. A handball in the penalty box game senior Sydney Wettering the opportunity to tie the game, which she did at the 28 minute mark. Again the Lady Pirates dominated possession of the ball but could not finish on multiple crossing opportunities.
The final score was 2-2 and the tie brings Greensburg’s record to 3-6-3 on the season.
Sophomore Keeper McKella Lynette tallied 10 saves on the day and Lady Pirate players with shots on goal were: Wettering, Hellmich, Myers, Molly Redmon, Kasey Moeller, Morgan Stagge, Stephanie Bruns, Cara Zeigler and Savannah Harrison.
The Lady Pirates will travel to Franklin County for another EIAC match-up on Thursday, Sept. 26.
