Greensburg — The Greensburg Learning Center is offering assistance in filling out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)forms.

According to Rachel Sullivan, Ivy Tech site manager, the FAFSA group also offers College Goal Sunday, workshops all over the state, at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 24.

Help will be available to students of all ages who want to apply for FASFA, the process of which is free.

The nearest location to Decatur County is Indiana University-Purdue University Columbus at 4555 Central Ave, Columbus. All of the sites can be located at http://collegegoalsunday.org.

The Learning Center, located at 422 East Central Avenue, also has two employees on staff to assist people with FAFSA by appointment.

Sullivan listed the items needed for FAFSA applications, including completed 2012 tax forms for both the student and his or her parents. If the student is under the age of 24, does not have a dependent and is not married, the applicant must include the completed taxes of his or her parents.

Applicants who are not depending on the income of their parents may go through a waiver process which can be explained during workshops.

Applicants will also need their social security card.

FASFA applications are completed online only, said Sullivan. Applicants should be wary of false sites.

“The FAFSA is free, so if a student is directed to a site where they have to pay, it’s a bogus site,” said Sullivan, “Emphasis on free.”

Students interested in going to the Learning Center for help should contact Rachel Sullivan, or Marybeth Miller at 812-663-9493, ext. 36 to schedule an appointment.
