Six year old donates 10 inches of hair to Locks of Love

Greensburg — Sophie Sullivan, 6, visited Fluid Salon Monday evening to donate more than 10 inches of her hair to Locks of Love.

Sophie, who hasn’t had a major haircut in at least a year, has been growing her hair out for almost three years. She said she was nervous about cutting her long blonde hair, but also excited. Sophie’s hair will be used by Locks of Love to make a hairpiece for child suffering from hair loss due to illness. Sophie’s generous donation will help another child build their self-esteem and confidence.

She first heard about Lock of Love from an adult cousin of hers in Mo. He regularly grows his hair long and then donates it to be made into hairpieces. When asked why she chose to donate her hair, Sophie answered, “Because it’s the right thing to do.”

Celina Raver, who works at Fluid Salon, talked to Sophie through her haircut, helping her to relax. Fluid Salon is open six days a week and gladly accepts walk ins at their 732 West Main Street location. Anyone interested in donating hair to Locks of Love is invited to contact Fluid Salon at 812-663-2345 or to visit the Locks of Love website at www.locksoflove.org.
