Daily News switching to mail delivery in August

Beginning with the Thursday, Aug. 1 edition, the Daily News will begin being delivered by the U.S. Postal Service. Over the past several years, many newspapers have been challenged with the rising cost of delivering the newspaper while maintaining a carrier force. With our new partnership with local postmasters, subscribers will continue to receive the best in local news coverage along with advertising messages from community businesses on a daily basis, all at the same great value.

While this was a difficult decision to make, it makes good business sense and enables The Daily News to hold subscription rates. We would like to thank all of our carriers for their years of dedicated service. Some routes may be converted throughout the month as carrier routes open. In that instance, we will do our very best to alert readers of the change.

Single copy locations will not be affected by the change. Copies of the Daily News will still be available at newstands and retailers, as always.

Paint the Town!

The annual “Painting the Town” Plein Air Paint-Out will take place Friday, Aug. 2.

This event will see artists from around the state come to downtown Greensburg, setting up their easels and painting sites from around the City of Greensburg. You can watch the artists do their work from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. that day. Afterward, the works will be displayed and up for sale in a tent on the courthouse lawn from 3 to 5 p.m. The Plein Air Paint-Out is sponsored by the Arts and Cultural Council of Decatur County.
