Greensburg — Two people were transported to the Decatur County Memorial Hospital Emergency Room Friday afternoon following a three-car accident northbound on Michigan Avenue, near Harvest Market.

Greensburg Police Officer Wayne Davis led the investigation at the crash scene, telling the Daily News that a Maroon Chrysler Van was stopped to turn from Michigan when the crash occurred. As traffic slowed behind the van, Davis said, a 1999 Chevy Cavalier “made contact” with a 2003 Ford Focus.

Although both airbags deployed in the Cavalier, only one of its occupants was transported to DCMH. One of the occupants of the Focus was also taken to the hospital.

Both the Cavalier and the Focus had to be towed from the scene. The van, meanwhile, was relatively undamaged, and its driver was released from the scene by the GPD.

The accident occurred shortly after 4 p.m.

The Greensburg Fire Department and Decatur County EMS also assisted at the scene.
