GREENSBURG — Independence Day celebrations in Decatur County will feature food, music, food, games and health screenings — and, of course, professional fireworks.
Decatur County Parks & Recreation Department will host its fireworks display at the county fairgrounds at dusk on July 3.
The display typically begins at about 9:30 p.m. and lasts about 20 minutes. Spectators view the display from their vehicles, blankets and lawn chairs
The Greensburg Kiwanis club will begin selling food and drink a few hours before the show begins. Nachos will cost $2.50, hot dogs will go for $1.50, and popcorn and soft drinks will sell for $1.
At 8 a.m. on July 5, Lake Santee will begin its Independence Day weekend celebrations with coffee and donuts in the community room.
Activities throughout the day also will include a barbecue, a raffle, live music, water slides and free blood pressure screenings. Fireworks are scheduled to begin at dusk.
