GREENSBURG – At the Decatur County 4-H fair this year, taking place from July 10 to 17, there will be a med station provided by Decatur County Memorial Hospital.
This med station will include a fully-trained registered nurse at all times and an emergency medical technician crew and ambulance near the Grand Stand.
At such a large event, there can often be instances where medical treatment is necessary; whether it be from the livestock stables or from the fun and games being held around the fairgrounds. The nurse who will be stationed at the med station is trained in handling any situation that could arise from the fair. This med station will be available to the public from 5 to 9 p.m. each evening of the fair.
The med station, which will be located in a large, air-conditioned trailer next to the community building, will respond to acute care problems, refer people to Decatur County Memorial Hospital if necessary and even offer free blood pressure checks to the public.
This service could be greatly beneficial, considering the extremely warm conditions that often arise during fair time. Signs will be displayed throughout the fairgrounds letting patrons know where the med station is located for the convenience of all fair-goers. This service is being offered completely free to the community during this year’s fair.
