Greensburg — Famed literary characters such as Horton, The Cat in the Hat, the Lorax, Curious George and even Winnie the Pooh himself looked on during Carousel Play and Learn Center’s library ribbon cutting ceremony Tuesday morning.

Thanks to a grant from the Decatur County Community Foundation (DCCF) a fully functional library has been added to the facility, allowing children to check out books in much the same manner as they might at the Greensburg-Decatur County Public Library.

A massive assortment of classic and contemporary children’s books adorn the room, which also features stuffed versions of many renowned children’s literary characters. The whole ensemble is a starter collection made possible via the grant, according to library director Andrea Ingmire. Ingmire described Tuesday morning’s event as “a really fun project.”

Several students joined Ingmire and Carousel director Stacy Allgeier for the morning’s ribbon cutting. DCCF director Deb Locke, DCCF board president Gail Rueff and Greensburg-Decatur County Public Library board president Andrea Wright were also on-hand for the ceremony.
