Church Briefs

First Christian Church

The First Christian Church, 425 N. Broadway, welcomes you to our worship services at 8 a.m. (traditional) and at 10:30 a.m. (contemporary). Sunday School classes are at 9:30 am.

The YOUTH are again selling strawberry shortcakes at the Decatur County Fair. We hope to see you there!

The Church Picnic will be held August 4 following 10:30 a.m. worship service. The menu will include fried chicken, corn on the cob, cold slaw and homemade ice cream. Please bring cool side dishes or desserts. Table service and drinks will be provided. Bring your family and friends!

Kids’ Closet of Decatur County

In August, children will again be invited to shop the Kids’ Closet. We would appreciate new or slightly used children’s clothing sizes, 4T to 18. To donate, call Jerry/Sue Abplanalp at 663-2084.

Greensburg United Methodist

Come worship with us on July 28 at our “Worship on the Green” service. At 8:15 a.m., early-service worshippers will gather in the sanctuary as usual. At our 10:30 a.m. worship service, we’ll be “worshipping on the green.” We’ll gather on the side lawn for a time of worship and praise. Come celebrate Creation with us! Limited seating will be provided, but bring lawn chairs if you have them. Bring a well-filled picnic basket to share with others in the Social Hall following the 10:30 service.

Sandcreek Baptist Church

We continue to send youth and adults to our local Baptist Youth Camp and ask you to keep them in your prayers. Pray that they come closer to God that during their time at the camp and will keep Him as part of their daily lives.

The ladies of the ABWM have taken on a mission project of making “pillowcase” dresses for children and young ladies in Haiti. If you want to help, you can donate $5 to cover the cost of purchasing trim and fabric, or you can donate 1.5 yards of cotton fabric, any rick rack, lace, bias tape or other trim. We’ll assemble the dresses at a later time and will keep you informed, as we’ll need help with sewing. If you want to donate, you can bring your items to the church or give your money to Dianna, and she’ll purchase any needed items to help complete the project.
