Ronald G. Redington, 65

Ronald G. Redington, 65, of Cedar Rapids, died Wednesday, July 17, 2013, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Ron was born Aug. 14, 1947, in Greensburg, the son of Nolan and Nancy (Dietz) Redington.

He married Cynthia Schoop Nov. 22, 1969, in Marion.

Ron was a Senior Engineer Manager for Rockwell Collins for more than 35 years. He was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Cedar Rapids.

Ron loved spending time with family and friends, especially his grandkids. He enjoyed racing and the Iowa Hawkeyes. Ron truly enjoyed his job and working in his garden.

His funeral service will begin at 11 a.m., July 22, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion, Iowa, officiated by Pastor Lynn L’Abbe. The family will greet friends from 2 p.m. until 5 p.m. July 21, at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Oak Shade Cemetery in Marion.

Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Cindy; children, Traci (Dean) Hepker of Grimes, and Brian (Nicole) Redington of Cedar Rapids; grandchildren, Katie, Patricia, Abbie, and William; mother-in-law, Mary Schoop of Marion; sisters-in-law, Jodi (Dave) Cahalan of Manchester, and Chris (Jim) Meggers of Marion; special friends Fred and Teresa Haumesser of Cedar Rapids; and extended family in Indiana.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Charles and Marvin, who died at birth; and his father-in-law, William “Bill” Schoop.

A memorial fund has been established in Ron’s memory.
