Greensburg — A Shelbyville woman accused of having sex with a 13-year-old boy is behind bars, facing two counts of child molestation.

According to an Affidavit of Probable Cause filed Wednesday in the Decatur Circuit Court, Hannah Jo Stuart, 22, was arrested Thursday by Westport Town Marshals on charges she engaged in sexual acts with a teenage boy in the spring of 2012. The alleged incidents were said to occur on two separate occasions, according to Charging Information filed Wednesday. Both offenses are classified as class “B” felonies.

Prior to her arrest, the suspect met with law enforcement officials and the Department of Child Services and is alleged to have admitted to one of the acts, which involved sexual intercourse with the boy in a residence located in Forest Hill.

Evidence from the case led to the issuance of an arrest warrant Thursday.

Preliminarily held without bail, a surety bond in the amount of $20,000 was issued Friday by Circuit Court Judge Tim Day, at Stuart’s Initial Hearing. The court entered a preliminary plea of not guilty on Stuart’s behalf Friday.

Public defender Steven Teverbaugh was appointed to represent Stuart in her criminal trial, which is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. Sept. 3. Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Douglas Brown will represent the state in the case.
