Pirate 7A boys notch first win

The Greensburg 7A boys basketball team tallied their first win 44-42 over Jennings County.

The Pirates jumped out early in the first period, leading 13-6. The Panthers cut the margin at the half 25-24.

In the third quarter both teams played even as the score was tied 31-31 after three periods.

Jennings County extended the lead to five points midway in the fourth quarter before a Pirate rally. Mason McLeod led all scorers with 18 points, and pulled down 12 rebounds. Andrew Comer had a nice game, according to coach Bob Barker, dishing out three assists, grabbing two steals and scoring 14 points. Cole Carder had seven boards and nine points. Dylan Mann and Trevor Foster scored 1 point each, while Aaron Black chipped in one point and had two rebounds.

The Pirates will travel to Connersville on Monday, Nov. 25.

Boys opener moved to Greensburg

The location of the boys basketball season-opening game between Greensburg and North Decatur has been moved from North Decatur to Greensburg.

The Tuesday, Nov. 26 game will be played at Greensburg, but will be a home game for North Decatur.

North Decatur season passes will be honored, but Greensburg season passes will not be honored.

Hall of Fame tourney ticket sales set

The Greensburg boys basketball team will be participating in the Hall of Fame Basketball Tournament on Saturday, Dec. 28. Four teams will compete at the New Castle Chrysler Fieldhouse at New Castle High School.

Tickets can be purchased in Mr. Edwards’ office from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. for $10, good for the entire day.

Greensburg will play Mt. Vernon-Fortville at 10 a.m., followed by Columbus North vs. Evansville Harrison.

The consolation game will take place at 6 p.m.

Tickets will be available at the door for $10 per session. There is no assigned seating.
