“We want people from each Indiana county to nominate early pioneer founders that helped to carve new life out of the wilderness and establish the settlements that grew into today’s Indiana cities and towns,” said co-chairs Carolyn Rose and Stanley Evans
The Society of Indiana Pioneers is actively seeking nominations of early pioneers from all walks of life – men and women; unknown and well-known - from your area who lived in Indiana from 1800 to 1840 for its Pioneer Founders of Indiana Project.
The Society of Indiana Pioneers was founded in 1916 “to honor the memory and the work of the Pioneers of Indiana.” It was founded 100 years after Indiana became a state in 1816.
Each year at its annual meeting in November and at its Centennial Celebration in 2016, these pioneer founders will be honored. Please submit your nomination for this year by September 15, 2014. Membership in the Society is not necessary to nominate someone to the Pioneer Founders of Indiana Project, but we would welcome your membership. All nominations and inquiries about membership should be directed to:
140 North Senate Avenue
Indianapolis, Indiana 46204-2207
