Local eatery cuts the ribbon on great food

GREENSBURG — “Our goal is to provide fast, efficient service in a restaurant that’s as clean-as-a-whistle – including the rest rooms – and give you consistent food that tastes just right and hits the spot.”

So pronounced Rich Bryant, co-owner and operator of Jimmy John’s, Greensburg, in kicking off his business’ formal ribbon cutting ceremony Tuesday morning.

Members of the Greensburg City Counsel joined representatives from the Greensburg-Decatur County Chamber of Commerce in helping formally announce the eatery to the area.

Bryant told the Daily News that his restaurant opened for business Oct. 22. For the first several months, he said, the new restaurant was “very busy,” but then things started slowing down with the onset of this past winter’s extreme cold.

“Cold weather was definitely detrimental to sandwich sales,” the co-owner said. “People just aren’t in the mood for cold sandwiches when it’s so cold outside.”

In recent weeks, however, Bryant and his business partners – Rick Bewley and Bryan Mess – have seen the winter-slump start to melt away as sunny skies and warmer temperatures have once more wrapped the Tree City in an outdoorsy frame of mind.

“People are definitely coming back out,” Bryant said. “They’re discovering our drive through, too.”

Bryant added that his delivery business is also steadily increasing. In fact, even through the winter doldrums, the restaurant’s delivery service remained steady and even grew.

“We started making seven or eight deliveries a day,” Bryant said. “We’re up to about 25 or 30 now.” Jimmy John’s of Greensburg delivers to a limited area.

Bryant welcomed Decatur Countians to visit his Jimmy John’s franchise for themselves or to call to inquire about delivery.

Jimmy John’s, Greensburg, is located at 448 Greensburg Commons, in the tiny strip-mall across from Walmart containing “Great Clips” and “Game Stop.”
