---- — Employees of a Decatur County pallet company look on as first responders begin the lengthy process of extinguishing a fire at the business Thursday afternoon. The fire was originally reported to be in Rush County shortly before 2 p.m. and was responded to by multiple Rush County volunteer departments.
Fanned by a strong south wind, the fire quickly spread to stacks of nearby pallets, making it difficult for firefighters to gain access and extinguish the blaze.
According to an employee at the facility, a trash fire got out of control and resulted in the call for aid.
Responding to the fire were units from the Indiana State Police, Rush County Sheriff’s Department, Anderson and Rushville Township Volunteer Fire Departments and St. Paul Volunteer Fire Department.
