Science fair examines ice cream, floating objects

Greensburg — Parents of Good Shepherd’s Christian Academy visited their kids’ science projects which showcased experiments from melted ice cream, the trajectory of ice-skating spins, and the growth of lettuce seeds Tuesday evening.

Third and fourth grade teacher, Katy Krenzke, said nine children participated in the third and fourth grade classes, and five participated from the sixth grade class.

Each class had a first, second and third place placements for the projects.

The first place project for the third and fourth grade went to Kae-Lynn Lowe. Kae-Lynn’s project was “Floating Fun,” and tested if objects would float better on salt or fresh water.

The first place project for the sixth grade went to Kathleen Moore. Kathleen questioned which type of milk would spoil the fastest, such as white versus chocolate milk.

Krenzke said the experiments were done at home, though work on the hypotheses and variables were done in school.
