---- — Harry Raymond Thackery, Jr., 81, passed away Aug. 29, 2013, at Decatur County Memorial Hospital. He was born on April 9, 1932, in Decatur County, the son of Harry, Sr. and Lelia (Vanderbur) Thackery.
Harry was a 1950 graduate of New Point High School. He was a United States Navy Veteran and served during the Korean Conflict.
He was a truck driver for 21 years for Marathon Oil, an operator for 24 years at the Greensburg Water Plant, and also worked at Delta Faucet for 2 years. Harry was a member of the First Church of God of Greensburg.
Survivors include: Son: Greg (Holly) Thackery; brother: James Thackery; grandchildren: Josh (Susan) Thackery and Jessica Adams; and great grandchildren: Ethan Thackery, Erica Thackery, and Abigail Adams. He was preceded in death by his parents; son: Gary Thackery; and brother: Marvin Thackery.
A visitation for family and friends will be held from 5 to 8 p.m., Sept. 3, at the Gilliland-Howe Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 10 .m., Sept. 4, 2013, with Rev. John Mattern officiating. Burial will follow at the Rossburg Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to the American Heart Association.
