Lady Pirate kickers fall to Bulldogs

Greensburg Daily News

---- — The Greensburg girls soccer team hosted Batesville and lost the EIAC matchup 7-0.

Batesville found the net eight minutes into the game, but had to wait another 15 minutes to be on mark. Two more goals to finish the half put the game out of reach. The visitors found the net three more times in the second half as five different players scored.

The Lady Pirates did force three off-sides calls and keeper duties were shared by Emma Overmyer (5 goals allowed, 12 saves) and McKella Lynette (2 goals allowed, 3 saves).

The Lady Pirates were not without their own chances offensively as five different players had shots on goal. Maddi Hellmich and Michaela Myers both had two shots, Kasey Moeller, Cara Zeigler and Sydney Wettering had one each. Many players stepped up and played solid defense as the Lady Bulldogs had the possession of the ball for 80 percent of the game.

“You are never happy about losing, but I thought our effort was better tonight than in our three previous games. Now we need to do a better job of marking and clearing the ball wide to set up our counter attacks,” said Coach Myers after the game.

Greensburg hosts Oldenburg Academy on Saturday.
