ABATE readying charity motorcycle ride for Special Olympics Saturday

GREENSBURG – American Bikers Aimed Toward Education (ABATE) of Decatur County will hit the road this weekend for local Special Olympics athletes.

The annual charity motorcycle ride is scheduled to begin at noon Saturday at Cutting Edge Sporting Goods, located at 206 West Main Street in Greensburg. The ride will culminate with a finish and an after-party at Andy’s Auto and Trailer Repair, located at 7064 State Road 3 North, in Greensburg.

The event is open to the public and will feature “family friendly stops, t-shirts while supplies last, dinner, games, free primitive, tent camping, live music and a party following the ride,” according to a press release. Decatur County ABATE Co-County Representative Ben Koughn said the ride will encompass approximately 100 miles, and the subsequent party will feature the musical talents of “12 Toed Shirley.” All proceeds from the ride will be used by Decatur County Special Olympics in order to provide for the needs of local athletes.

The cost for admission to the ride and party is $15 per person or $25 per couple. Admission to the after-party is $10 per person or $15 per couple. Registration is from 9 to 11:30 a.m. at Cutting Edge Sporting Goods.
