South JV spikers fall to Knights

The South Decatur junior varsity volleyball squad fell to South Dearborn in three sets Tuesday night, 25-14, 10-25, 15-11.

“The girls played a good game tonight,” said South coach Megan Johannigman. “I think we just lacked the confidence we needed to finish with a win. Even though we were on the losing end tonight, I am proud of the way my girls worked through the new lineup, as we were without both of our middle hitters, Delanie Diekhoff and Haileigh Haining, due to injuries.”

South stats:

Jessica Barkdull - 4/6 serve receive, 1 dig.

Anekah Bower - 9/11 serve receive, 9/10 hitting with 2 kills.

Shelby Branum - 5/6 serve receive, 5/9 hitting with 3 kills.

Morgan Eden - 6/7 serving with 2 aces, 3 assists.

Brooke Helms - 8/10 serve receive, 9/11 serving with 3 aces, 4 assists.

Vanessa Veerkamp - 8/9 serving with 3 aces, 4/6 hitting with 2 kills.

Paige Wilmer- 5/5 serve receive, 10/10 serving with 2 aces.
