Shelbyville edges Pirate boys tennis

---- — The Greensburg boys varsity tennis team fell to Shelbyville 3-2 Tuesday on its home courts.

The Pirates are now 5-2 on the season.

Senior Collin Rigney at first singles defeated JD Cox 6-1, 6-1. Rigney is now 7-0 on the season.

Senior Riley Burkert (6-1) fell to Sam Shammas 6-1, 7-6 at second singles.

At third singles, sophomore David Lawrence (4-3) fell to Jared Wise 6-2, 6-0.

Seniors Kyle Colson (6-1) and Tom Lawrence (6-1) won their first doubles match 7-5, 6-0 over Derek Blain and Tyler Kirk.

Kevin Beaver (5-2) and Keegan McCullough (5-2) fell at second doubles, 6-3, 6-0, to Shelbyville’s Bobby Drake and Chris Asher.

Greensburg’s week against conference teams continues with a home match against Franklin County Thursday night.
