The Greensburg girls varsity soccer team hosted Franklin County in a non-EIAC match Thursday night.
The Lady Pirates prevailed 3-1 to earn their second win of the season. The win lifts Greensburg’s record to 2-5-2.
In her first game back from a concussion injury, senior Morgan Stagge opened the scoring seven minutes into the game. Stagge played a free kick and it was deflected back to her from a Wildcat player. The rebound shot found the back of the net.
Franklin County scored its only goal with 15 minutes left in the first half as the shot hit the cross bar and careened into the net.
Two minutes later, sophomore Maddi Hellmich scored off a pass from junior Danielle Schroeder for the go ahead and game winning goal.
Senior Sydney Wettering netted the only goal of the second half with an assist from freshman Michaela Myers and Stephanie Bruns.
McKella Lynette recorded six saves in goal.
Other Lady Pirates with shots were Abby Bailey, Sierra Aylsworth, Schroeder, Myers, Brooke Martin and Savannah Harrison.
The Lady Pirates play their final two home games next week as they host EIAC power East Central on Tuesday and celebrate Senior Night against Shelbyville next Thursday.
