Two held on child molesting charges

WESTPORT – Two Westport men are facing charges of child molestation following an investigation by the Indiana State Police.

Charging Information filed Friday in the Decatur Circuit Court states Brandon J. Dummich, 31, and William E. Dummich, 60, have each been charged with child molesting, a class “A” felony. The younger Dummich also faces a second charge of child molesting, a class “C” felony.

Investigators believe Brandon Dummich engaged in sexual intercourse and performed sexual acts on the person of a child during a time period from 2010 until last October. The elder Dummich is alleged to have “performed deviate sexual conduct” on the child in May 2012. The victim is under the age of 14.

Both men were arrested by investigators with the Indiana State Police Monday evening, and both remained incarcerated in the Decatur County Jail at press time Tuesday. A surety bond in the amount of $100,000 was set for Brandon Dummich. William Dummich’s surety bond was set at $75,000. The suspects are scheduled for trial on March 17, 2014.

Due to the sensitive nature of the case, the location of the alleged crimes was not given in court documents and further information is not expected to be released.

Court documents obtained by the Daily News Tuesday indicate Brandon Dummich, in addition to the charges filed Tuesday morning, presently faces a pair of felony charges related to an incident last summer that led to a destructive fire on South County Road 220 Southwest.

Dummich, with a pair of accomplices, is alleged to have stolen a flare gun and a pack of flare cartridges from Greensburg’s Walmart in late August. The suspects are then alleged to have fired off the flares into a property located at 5785 South County Road 220 Southwest, which was subsequently destroyed by fire. The loss was estimated to be more than $9,000, according to Charging Information filed Oct. 8 in the Decatur Circuit Court.

Brandon Dummich was charged with single counts of criminal mischief and theft in that case, both of which are class “D” felonies.
