Two suffer minor injuries in crash

Greensburg — An Ohio man and a seven-year-old Greensburg boy received minor injuries in a two-vehicle accident near the State Road 3 bypass Thursday morning.

According to Decatur County Sheriff Greg Allen, the crash occurred at approximately 11:38 a.m. when a westbound Dodge Ram collided with an eastbound Ford Focus on State Road 46, at the flashing red light. The impact of the two vehicles sent the Focus, driven by Robert Yearly, 58, of Minerva, Ohio, front first into a nearby ditch.

Investigators said the silver 1997 Dodge Ram, which was driven by Westport resident Lindsay Griffin, 34, attempted to turn left onto State Road 3 when the crash occurred.

Yearly sustained a head laceration and additional cuts on his arms from flying glass in the accident. The silver 2012 Focus also received heavy front-end and side damage.

A man and a seven-year-old boy were occupants of the truck driven by Griffin when it impacted Yearly’s Focus. The boy complained of pain to his head.

Both the child and Yearly were transported by Decatur County EMS to Decatur County Memorial Hospital for treatment.

The Greensburg Fire Department arrived at the crash and worked to extricate Yearly from his vehicle. Assistance at the scene was also provided by the Burney-Clay Township Volunteer Fire Department and the Decatur County Sheriff’s Department.

Sheriff’s Deputies Kevin Rohr, Rob Goodfellow and Mike Woodhull assisted those involved in the crash and helped direct traffic around the accident while cleanup occurred. Both vehicles were removed from the scene by a wrecker service.

Information on the condition of the two persons injured in the accident was not available by press time Thursday.
