Southern Indiana Automotive Expo to return to Tree City

Greensburg — The Southern Indiana Automotive Expo will return to Greensburg June 20 and 21, with guests expected from all over Indiana, the Midwest, and from as far away as South Carolina and Washington state.

The 2013 Southern Indiana Automotive Expo will be hosted by the Greensburg Decatur County Economic Development Corporation (EDC). Auto related companies from several states will attend to exhibit their manufacturing and service capabilities to other vendors and manufacturers. There will also be featured speakers both days and a panel discussion covering pertinent automotive topics on the final day.

Bob Nelson, the president of Honda Manufacturing of Indiana will be speaking on the first day. Nelson’s speech will cover customer-supplier relationships. Also speaking on the first day will be Brian Harlow, vice-president of Chrysler Group, LLC. Harlow will be speaking about integrated global and local powertrain manufacturing planning and execution.

Slated to speak on the second day is German Bosherz, Valeo Thermal Systems Research and Development Director, who will speak about efforts at reducing carbon dioxide emissions in the auto industry. Also speaking will be Indiana State Representative Randy Frye, who will discuss compressed natural gas (CNG) legislative initiatives for Indiana’s auto industry. Kris Kyler of CNG Fuel Inc. will speak about CNG service station developments and Randy Cyman of One Solution Logistics will cover workforce needs in the automotive industry.

Between the speeches, vendors will have exhibits available both days, which should provide both networking opportunities and introduce new products to purchasers in the automotive industry. Marc Coplon, one of the events organizers, said the expo will like a miniature automotive trade show. Coplon recommended the event for presidents, CFOs, purchasing managers, engineers and plant managers in the automotive field. The 2013 Southern Indiana Automotive Expo should provide excellent opportunities for networking and exposure to innovative ideas.

Coplon said, "We think that if you consider the level and experience of our featured speakers, our panelists and the exhibitors, this is a major event for not only Greensburg and Decatur County, but our entire region."

One past participant said of a previous auto expo, “Great job! We have attended shows for a far greater expense and didn’t have half the success as we did at this show!”

Opportunities for sponsorships and exhibit spaces are still available, as are general attendance tickets for the Auto Expo. General admission tickets are available at a cost of $59 and include the seminar, lunch and admission to the exhibit hall. Exhibit booths are available for a 10x10 space at a cost of $300, which includes two registrations to the seminar and lunch. There will be an extra cost of $25 to have electricity available at the booth.

Several levels of sponsorship are available as well, ranging from a single marquee sponsorship at a cost of $10,000 to a bronze sponsorship at a cost of $500. For more information about sponsorship and what it entails, the costs and benefits, please contact Natasha Kellerman at 812-222-2520, or by email at

Discount overnight accomodations are available at Hampton Inn & Suites, Holiday Inn Express, Quality Inn & Suites, and Nana's House Bed & Breakfast. To receive the discount, "Southern Indiana Automotive Expo" must be mentioned while making reservations.

The 2013 Southern Indiana Automotive Expo will be located at 1575 West Commerce Drive in Greensburg.
