WASHINGTON, D.C. —
Decatur County native Luke Messer was sworn-in and began his first term as United States Congressman Thursday.
Messer took the oath of office in a group swearing-in with the new members of the U.S. House of Representatives and was joined on the House floor by his three children.
“I am honored to serve the people of Indiana’s 6th Congressional District,” said Messer. “There is a lot of work to be done in the coming weeks and months to get our country back on the right track, but with resolve I am certain we can get this done.”
“We must create a better environment for job creators and get our fiscal house in order,” Messer continued. “We should start by reigning in the out of control spending and addressing the growing debt that will cripple future generations of Americans.”
Messer will serve on the House Committees on Budget, Foreign Affairs and Education and the Workforce.
