Greensburg — Friday, Greensburg Elementary School (GES) held a cultural awareness night, which celebrated diversity by playing several cartoons from the six other countries Greensburg represents. GES has students from China, the Czech Republic, India, Japan, Mexico and Vietnam.

With snacks of popcorn and soda, the families watched an episode of Chinese Sesame Street, which was fully animated instead of featuring puppets.

“Krteek” was viewed, hailing from the Czech Republic. This was a short animation of a mole who could make its paintings come to life.

The kids then learned their colors in Japanese and watched a Vietnamese fable, “Duoi bong cay” about a cocky mouse who bragged about fighting a snake and eagle.

From India came “Father’s Weekend,” a dubbed Goofy short.

Mexico also brought a familiar character; Mickey Mouse in “El error de Mickey,” in which he mistakenly uses his girlfriend Minnie Mouse's own money to buy her a present.
