Greensburg — Indiana Conservation Officers are investigating a stream pollution of Clifty Creek located west of Greensburg.

On Wednesday, Indiana Conservation Officer Andrew Hagerty responded to a complaint that a strong odor of diesel fuel was coming from Clifty Creek.

Upon further investigation, Hagerty was able to locate the source of the pollution.

Hagerty has determined that the contamination had traveled nearly a mile downstream. Hagerty is now being assisted in the investigation by Indiana Department of Environmental Management (IDEM) investigators.

Efforts to contain the spill are on-going. The cause of the spill is still under investigation.

The Greensburg Fire Department also assisted at the scene with containment and clean-up.
