North JH boys sweep Milan

The North Decatur junior high basketball teams swept Milan Monday night on the road.

The eighth graders used a 17-4 fourth quarter to erase a 30-20 deficit, winning 37-34.

The Chargers improve to 3-1 with the victory.

Evan Smith led North with 18 points. Cole Parmer followed with 12. Sidney Ricke scored four, Jake Hartman added two and Taylor Hacker chipped in one.

North next visits Batesville Tuesday.

The seventh graders improved to 4-0 with a 55-22 win over Milan. North outscored Milan 19-0 in the first quarter and led 26-8 at the half. The Chargers outscored Milan 18-4 out of the break to put the game out of reach.

Garrett Metz matched Milan’s total output with 22 points. Tyler Walterman scored 17, while Braden Blauvelt added 12. Justin Allgeier rounded out the scoring with four.

Pirate 7A boys beat Spartans

The Greensburg 7A boys basketball team returned to action Monday at Connersville and came home with a 56-42 victory to improve to 2-2 on the season.

Andrew Comer led all scorers with 20 points, while also dishing out 6 assists and 2 rebounds. Mason McLeod was the only other Pirate to reach double digits with 12 points and grabbing a team high 9 rebounds, along with 3 assists.

Other scorers include: Aaron Black 5 points and 4 rebounds; Trevor Foster 4 points; Cole Carder 7 points and 3 rebounds; Dylan Mann 5 points and 3 rebounds; Logan Smith 1 point, 1 rebound and 1 assist; and Joey Woods 2 points and 1 rebound.

The 7A Pirates, coached by Shawn Ruble, return to action Dec. 3 at home against South Dearborn starting at 5:30.

Pirate 8A boys fall to Spartans

The Greensburg 8A boys basketball team traveled to Connersville Monday and came away with a 51-33 loss. Connersville jumped out to a quick lead, hitting four 3-pointers on the first six possessions. Greensburg (1-3) cut the lead to five, but that was the closest it was the rest of the way.

“We gave great effort and cut down on our turnovers, but ultimately Connersville shot at a much better percentage than Greensburg on this night,” said Pirate coach Andrew Ruble.

Luke Lozier led Greensburg with a strong 11-point, 5-rebound and 4-assist night. Kyle Sellers chipped in 9, Jon Brown 6, Cody Bischoff, 4, Shawn Partlow 2, and Craig Scheidler 1 to round out the scoring. Tucker Bailey recorded 4 assists. Craig Scheidler and Jon Brown led the team with 8 and 6 rebounds, respectively. Greensburg will host South Dearborn Tuesday at 5:30. p.m.

Hall of Fame tourney ticket sales set

The Greensburg boys basketball team will be participating in the Hall of Fame Basketball Tournament on Saturday, Dec. 28. Four teams will compete at the New Castle Chrysler Fieldhouse at New Castle High School.

Tickets can be purchased in Mr. Edwards’ office from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. for $10, good for the entire day.

Greensburg will play Mt. Vernon-Fortville at 10 a.m., followed by Columbus North vs. Evansville Harrison.

The consolation game will take place at 6 p.m.

Tickets will be available at the door for $10 per session. There is no assigned seating.
