Greensburg Daily News
An Indianapolis couple arrested earlier this week may have been involved in the robbery of a Greensburg bank late last month.
The Greenfield Reporter broke the news of the couple’s apprehension in New Palestine Wednesday. Police suspect the couple, identified as Chancley Podniestrzanski, 30, and Danielle Baker, 21, took part in as many as nine bank robberies spanning the Hoosier State and crossing into Kentucky. The pair has also been implicated in a slew of break-ins and thefts across central Indiana.
Greensburg’s Old National Bank was robbed March 29 of an undisclosed amount of money by a man wearing sunglasses and a baseball cap with the word “Atlanta” written across the front. No weapon was used in the heist. The Greensburg Police Department began an investigation, but had little to go on other than a grainy surveillance photo taken at the scene.
Authorities told the Greenfield Reporter this week the couple stole and later sold the items obtained through the burglaries in order to fund a heroin habit.
Both suspects are alleged to have confessed to committing the Greensburg robbery as well as several others.
Calls to the Greensburg Police Department for comment were not returned prior to press time Thursday.
The Daily News will have more on this story as it develops.
