Greensburg — Greensburg’s Omega Chapter of the Tri Kappa Sorority will host its fifth annual Basket/Bag Bingo starting at 5:15 p.m., Oct. 25, at Greensburg Elementary School.

According to event organizer and Sorority member Joyce Holtkamp, the Bingo itself starts at 6:30 p.m. Admission is $10, which includes light snacks at each table donated by Rural King and Aldi.

Additionally, pizza from Pizza King, as well as cookies, water, soda and coffee will also be available for purchase, Holtkamp added.

According to a press release, the evening will include 15 games of Bingo, with each winner taking home either one of nine Longaberger Baskets filled with “many wonderful goodies,” or seven Vera Bradley designer handbag, also filled with smaller prizes. The extra Longaberger Basket will be awarded via a drawing held after all the Bingo games.

Proceeds from this year’s Bingo event, like last year’s, Holtkamp added, will fund scholarships for students at the region’s three major high schools: North and South Decatur and Greensburg.

Last year’s event raised $5,000, Holtkamp said, and the Sorority anticipates similar results this year.

According to Holtkamp, the prizes in this year’s Longaberger Baskets and Vera Bradley Handbags include: Tickets to the Indianapolis Children’s Museum, to Holiday World and to the Indiana Ice hockey team, as well as to the Indianapolis Indians baseball team; a $25 Walmart card; a $25 Aldi’s Card; a $25 gas card; scrap-booking supplies from Mrs. B’s; two $25 cashier’s checks from First Federal Bank; a floral arrangement from Expression Florist; a Colt’s Fan Bag; and miscellaneous gifts from A Piece of Cake and Scheidler Glass — among many others.

The event also includes a 50/50 raffle and a drawing for a Christmas “Money Tree” provided by Holtkamp Erosion Control.

According to the release, Tri Kappa “is a statewide, non-profit, philanthropic organization, which promotes projects in the areas of charity, culture and education. Statewide, Tri Kappa offers several scholarships annually since 1913. Locally, Greensburg’s Omega chapter of Tri Kappa awarded $6,000 to area students last year.”

Seating for Tri Kappa Sorority’s Bingo Night is limited to 300. Tickets may be purchased at the door or in advance by calling Joyce Holtkamp at 614-1490.
