---- — The Greensburg girls varsity soccer team traveled to Franklin County and tied another EIAC match-up 1-1.
The Lady Wildcats scored with 16 minutes to play in the first half. Both teams had six total shots in the first half. The Lady Wildcats dominated play throughout the second half, according to Pirate head coach Mike Myers, winning most 50/50 balls.
“The hosts had seven total second half shots, six on goal but were not able to connect,” noted Myers.
Lady Pirate keeper McKella Lynette made nine saves on shots-on-goal for the game.
With just under seven minutes to play, the Lady Pirates put together an offensive attack. Quick movement and attacking outside in gave senior Morgan Stagge the ball and she played a great pass to senior Sydney Wettering. Wettering then found sophomore Maddi Hellmich, who connected with the game-tying goal.
Hellmich led with six shots on goal and Wettering added two.
The Lady Pirates were fortunate to earn the tie and this puts their record at 3-6-4 and 0-3-2 in EIAC play. The team will be in action Saturday morning as they travel to Lawrenceburg for a 10 a.m. match.
