The Greensburg cross country teams made their annual trip to Indianapolis for the Southport Invitational Saturday morning.
Peyton Buening ran his best race of the season. He placed 22nd in 17:19, his fastest time ever for 5 km. Reid McClintic finished in 58th with a time of 18:28. Senior Ethan Sebastian was Greensburg’s third runner to cross the finish line. Ethan ran 18:32 to earn 60th place. Greg Schroeder took 69th in 18:47.
Freshman Kevin Johnson ran a personal best on Saturday. He placed 84th in 19:34. Jonathan Richards recorded a time of 20:00 and placed 91st. Ben Newhart ran 21:02 and came in 97th. The boys finished 12th out of 16 teams. Their record stands at 34-42 after eight meets.
In the girls’ competition, Greensburg was eighth in a 14-team field. Shelby Pake led the first Lady Pirates, earning ninth place in 20:20. The next two finishers for Greensburg were freshman Allie Reisman and April Morrow. Allie ran 21:36 to take 32nd while April recorded her best time ever for 5 km. She finished 41st in 22:09. Senior Erin Hamilton ran 22:56 to take 56th. Ellie Burkhart was 64th in 23:18 with Mary Kate Porter taking 69th in a time of 23:58. Freshman McKinley Bottoms crossed the line in 28:39 and finished in 84th place. The girls are now 48-21 on the season.
Dylan Barber returned from injury with a personal best in the reserve race. Dylan placed 76th in a time of 20:28. Louis Moore took 87th in 20:58, and Draven Hall finished 112th in 22:10.
The Pirates return to action on Thursday evening when they host the 40th annual Greensburg Invitational.
