---- — Rita Truax, 80, of Mesa, Ariz., passed away quietly in her home Saturday morning, July 27, 2013.
Rita was born Aug. 25, 1932 in Greensburg, the daughter of Walter and Anna (Tellas) Thackery.
She was a 1950 graduate of Greensburg High School and lived much of her life in Greensburg.
She worked for many years in Indianapolis as a legal secretary for the Indianapolis Bar and as an executive secretary for the Indianapolis Star; in Muncie for the ROTC on the Ball State University campus, and in Cincinnati for the IRS and the Probation Office.
She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Desmond Thackery and Ruth (Thackery, Aldrich) Guthrie.
Rita is survived by three daughters: Kathy Jones-Olivier of Mesa, Ariz; Connie (Chris) Hellmich of Greensburg; and Maxine (Chris) Johnson of Indianapolis.
She was also a loving grandmother to four grandchildren: Brittany Hellmich, Debi Olivier, Nick Pesu, and Jon Pesu; and one great grandchild, Shayne Dutrow Olivier.
Rita will be fondly remembered by family and friends as a kind and generous soul who embraced life experiences, expected the best out of everyone and brought a smile to all she met.
She enjoyed nature and loved animals. She was a talented artist who liked piano, music and dance. Rita loved learning and enjoyed going to museums.
A celebration of life reception will start at 2 p.m. followed by a memorial service at 5 p.m. Thursday, August 8, at High Point Orchard, 3321 N. Old US Highway 421 in Greensburg, IN, Reverend Doris E. Smith officiating.
Flowers and contributions to the Canine Health Foundation are both welcome.
