---- — Sister Rita Musselman O.S.F., formerly Sister Robert Ann, 82, of the Sisters of St. Francis in Oldenburg, died Friday August 2, 2013 at the convent. Born August 29, 1930 in Springfield, Ohio, she was the daughter of Ann (Walker) and Robert Musselman.
She entered the convent September 8, 1948 and made her final vows August 12, 1954. Sister Rita began her working career as an elementary teacher for six years before spending the next forty four years teaching high school social studies at St. Francis Seraph in Cincinnati, Scecina High School in Indianapolis, and Carroll High School in Dayton, Ohio. She also spent fifteen years as receptionist and secretary for the St. Mary Development Corporation in Dayton. In 2010, Sister Rita retired to the motherhouse.
She is survived by sisters Marjorie Amend of Union, Ohio; Bonnie Walling of Arlington, Va.; sister-in-law Mary Ann Musselman and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister Dorothy Musselman and brother Robert Musselman.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, August 6 from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Motherhouse Chapel in Oldenburg. Funeral services will follow at 3 p.m. with Rev. Humbert Moster O.F.M. officiating and burial in the convent cemetery. Weigel Funeral Home in Batesville is handling the arrangements.
